Background

If Leonardo DiCaprio was here, would you ask him about Christmas is around the corner?

Santa Claus graciously appeared on AOL Blast—despite the fact that no one watches it due to its unprofessional bullshit—to promote his latest film Detective Crashmore, for which Lamador Pictures paid him his rate of $2 mil to play the eponymous crazier-than-hell detective.

Once the unprofesssional host Wesley Fillmore finally determined that he would follow his guest’s instructions to interview him as an actor, we learn about the cosmic gumbo—Santa had joked with his co-star Ryan Tanna on set about how it was a cosmic gumbo—that mixes “the action of the ’90s combined with the exploitation films of the ’70s” while almost moving to the beat of jazz.

What’d He Wear?

We may be more used to seeing him in a bright red stocking cap with a fuzzy white pom, but Santa tops his street look on AOL Blast with a mustard twill tweed flat cap, patterned with a red-and-yellow windowpane check.

Santa appeared on AOL Blast dressed similarly to Detective Crashmore’s regular costume of a dark brown leather flight jacket and plain T-shirts. Combined with his boots, the style indeed traces a provenance back to 1970s cop movies like The Seven-Ups, during which Roy Scheider was typically dressed in a brown leather jacket with dark tops and jeans.

Santa’s brown leather jacket more closely follows the design of a Harrington jacket, specifically the waist-length cut and the two-button standing collar that he typically wears flat like a shirt-style collar. The jacket has a horizontal chest yoke, a straight-zip front, and hand pockets. The set-in sleeves are finished with two-button squared cuffs.

Santa wears dark blue jeans with a noticeable sheen under the AOL Blast studio lights that suggests selvedge denim. In addition to his dark brown leather belt, Santa demonstrates the redundancy of “belt and braces” by wearing bright-red suspenders—the only festive holiday color in his attire and possibly also part of his costume for that other thing he does. Worn over his plain black crew-neck short-sleeved T-shirt, these suspenders have gold adjusters and clips. He also wears black sneakers.

On his left wrist, Santa wears a brown nut bracelet and a blue multi-toned braided bracelet. The gold wedding band on the ring finger of his left hand symbolizes his marriage to Mrs. Claus.

How to Get the Look

Santa Claus on AOL Blast

Before he played a “shirt brother” to Tim Robinson’s character on the third season of I Think You Should Leave, Biff Wiff showed us a more badass side of Santa Claus, filtered through a ’70s-cop tinted lens that the actor clearly channeled into his real-life wardrobe as worn while tolerating the unprofessional bullshit of an AOL Blast press junket.

  • Brown leather waist-length zip-up jacket with two-button standing collar, hand pockets, and set-in sleeves with 2-button squared cuffs
  • Black crew-neck short-sleeved T-shirt
  • Dark-indigo selvedge denim jeans
  • Red suspenders with gold hardware
  • Dark-brown leather belt with gunmetal two-prong buckle
  • Black sneakers
  • Mustard windowpane-check twill tweed flat cap

Do Yourself a Favor and…

Check out the series, streaming on Netflix.

The Quote

You think getting a tattoo is good? No. Getting a tattoo is not good. I don’t care about it, but it’s not good behavior.
